A shipment of Dr. Pellow's donated hockey gear arrived today. I have attached a photo to illustrate the condition of one of the items. I have it on good authority that about 80% of the shipment is in this state or even worse. A local hockey coach described the condition of most of the equipment as unusable. Apparently, there is more equipment on the way?
While I was at first skeptical about the whole idea, I thought it polite to say nothing. A gift is a gift and why not let Dr. Pellow have his little moment of glory. After all, this is for the poor unfortunate kids in Chapleau who can't afford any equipment. When I saw the condition of the equipment, I could no longer remain silent.
Does this man think so little of the people of Chapleau that he would give us equipment that is this beat up? This is hardly what people would consider "gently used". I do not wish to sound ungrateful, and in many cases, the thought does count. But if most of the stuff is unusable, can we let Dr. Pellow tout this as one of his successes? I will be sure to update you, the public, as this story unfolds.
Here are some pictures of a donated hockey stick:
OMG!! I would be to embarassed to "donate" that to anyone! I wouldn't even let my son play road hockey with that!
ReplyDeleteThe person who gave that stick should be ashamed. It should have gone to a dump. Maybe thats what Dr. Pellow and his donators think of Chapleau; a dump.
ReplyDeleteMr. X. You DO NOT have to second guess yourself in voicing a perfectly natural feeling about this so-called "donation". Does this Dr. P. know how bad the condition of the equipment is? I mean, is there some way he could have not known?(as in, did someone else pack the box other than him, or did the equipment come from someone other than the Dr. himself?) If he did indeed know how crappy the stuff is, and he actually sent it, he is worthy of nothing more than using the stuff himself.
ReplyDeleteMaybe our "thoughtful" neighbours to the South realized this crap would cause them too many problems figuring out how to recycle it, so they sent it to Northern Ontario to sneakily start using us as a dump.
ReplyDeleteHe has no respect for the Chapleau Citizens. He thinks himself as God, I'm sure when someone speaks to him on the condition of the equipment, he'll find away to avoid the issue. A man like Mr. Pellow, feels himself to be above everyone.
ReplyDeleteImagine if a man like this would do in the Mayors Chair. The commuinity and its citizen are not 1st on his agenda it is his trains.
BRUTAL , NOT ACCEPTABLE, EVEN IF HE DIDNT KNOW THE CONDITION OF THE PACKAGE HE SHOULD AT LEAST LOOK AT IT BEFORE GIVIN IT AWAY ,NOW IF HE'S GIVIN AWAY JUNK STUFF LIKE THAT AND HE'S NOT EVEN MAYOR WONDER WHAT IS GONNA DO FOR OUR COMMUNITY ;(
ReplyDeleteI sure do wish his web site was up and running so that I could tell him thanks soo much for all this great hockey equipment.
ReplyDeleteDear Mr X
ReplyDeleteAs Dr, Bill Pellow's campaign manager I do not see any problems with the aformentioned hockey gear. It was in Dr. Pellow's heart to save this town. I have had enough with the bad mouthing of this great man. He shall be known from now on as The Baconater.
Thank you.
Teddy B
it is purely an insult to our kids! Oh ya Chapleau kids are so hard done by that there parents can't afford to buy them hockey equipment...let give them these broken sticks and when they get on the ice the coaches will tell them they can't play with broken equipment! What an insult!! I personally have passed down hockey equipment from my son to two children in this community, and if the stuff looked as bad as that, I would be too ashamed to donate it to anyone!! Seriously what does he think of the kids in this community and the VOTERS who see this! AHHHHHH I seriously can't wait for this election to be finished so he can pack his bags and leave town! And he can take his "donated hockey equipment" back with him!
ReplyDeleteJust remember "the hockey stick" when you vote.
ReplyDeleteoh I've already voted!! And I didn't need the hockey stick!! I voted with MY BACON in mind!! LOL
ReplyDeleteAnyone who believes Bill Pellow would jeopardize his chances of becoming mayor by donating a broken hockey stick,I just want to say,I have some magic beans for sale if anyone is interested...
ReplyDeleteI think that we should have a going away party for Billy. I know that I will help him pack and I will even wear my suit and tie so that I will look appropriate to be in his presence.lol
ReplyDeleteSorry Francine, Bill Pellow already has a campaign manager.
ReplyDeleteRead the article...MOST of the equipment was unusable, not just one hockey stick. The photo is simply to illustrate the quality of the donated items. Maybe he never saw them. Maybe he was not told they were in such poor condition. Or just maybe he does not think very highly of us.
Wait a minute, I already knew that.
LOL Mr X!!! Good one!!I'll believe it when you have a write up in the Chapleau express;)
ReplyDeleteI accept your challenge! I'll gather my evidence and prepare a pictorial for all in Chapleau to see.
ReplyDeleteMind you, if Pellow loses the election, there won't really be any point to it anymore.
I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.
I am outraged at the crap that was "donated". So if this is gently used, what does completely worn out look like? And to boot, it's now cluttering our landfill site. Is this a surprise? No. I invite people to check out the NHLPA Goals and Dreams website.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.nhlpa.com/Giving-Back/Goals-And-Dreams/
Dr. Bill has been touting this left and right as the organization that will save minor hockey in Chapleau. Once again during the debate, he brought up that he was in touch with an NHL player and that he submitted applications to obtain funds for the hockey clubs. I doubt he will be successful. The organization purchases hockey equipment for underpriviliged kids and brings it to the community for a photo op. We don't need hockey equipment in Chapleau and the majority of kids who play hockey are not underpriviliged. Parents swap or give away equipment that has been outgrown by their kids. The second hand store is full of used skates and such and if fees are a problem for a family, there are subsidies available through DSSAB to pay fees. We are not poor uneducated people who are helpless and who need a "white knight" to come and save us. Get off your high horse Dr. Bill, get the facts straight, stop misrepresenting and twisting information for your personal gain and stop using us as a dumping ground for useless crap from southern Ontario.
Mr X. You should really try and put a "like" button on this site. I REALLY LIKE "hockey Mom's" Comment!!
ReplyDeleteA good troll always provides credible information on the person he is targeting
ReplyDeleteThat's how you keep your followers...
Don't disappoint me Mr X,you accepted my challenge!Even if Bill loses I would still like to see the pics and a write up in the Sunday paper:)
It was yet another ploy for Bill to get the attention of Chapleau voters that backfired on him. Just like his web site.lol
ReplyDeleteIn his defence I bet that he probably didn't see what was being sent here. I have a hard time typing these words of defence for Bill but for now I think I will give him the benefit of doubt that he didn't see the stuff. I am not a Bill suporter but logic would have dictated that he look at the junk before handing it over.
Mr X. Do you know if this "junk" was delivered by Bill?
I will post more details in a follow-up.
ReplyDeleteLike any good reporter, I do my homework.
I don't need to be a troll to have followers. Dr. Pellow's reputation is enough.
As Hockey Mom mentioned, if you know of any parents that are low income that need assistance in purchasing hockey equipment for their child or needs help to pay for registration, please send them to the Manitoulin-Sudbury DSB office. Approval is based on LICO (Low-Income Cut Off) and they are more then happy to help those in need. Call Tara and she will give you more info. I know they have helped alot of families in town and not just with hockey.
ReplyDeleteWow! Thanks to a coworker this blog was brought to my attention! I am seeing the condition of Dr. (GOD?) Pellow donated hockey equipment for the first time and I am shocked, insulted, frustrated and even more inclined to vote then before.
ReplyDeleteAnd in response to Dr. Pellows campaign manager I would like to say... Being of the same age as your boys, and having known them relatively well over the years you cannot even pretend that you would ever allow your children to use such equipment. You would have been the first to complain and try to have something done about it. I am rather shocked by your stand during this race to the mayors chair.
In response to Mr. Burns’ comment I would raise the following issues. Although your unwavering support of Mr. Pellow is commendable, I would like to think you would be taking your job as campaign manager more seriously. Should you not be attempting some kind of damage control? Yes, this site is unquestionably “anti-Pellow” however, the incidents and information stated here are factual (Mr.X’s opinions to them are his editorial right but he does have his facts straight). The things that your leader has said and done to alienate the public DID happen. I will grant him the benefit of the doubt and say that perhaps some were unintentional and well-meaning, and that many were perhaps attempts at humour but he did in fact insult many people in this town he is trying to “save” (myself included). As his campaign manager, should you not advise him to try and make some amends prior to Monday’s final vote? The hockey equipment may have been well-intentioned but perhaps it should have been looked over by someone with some expertise as should the golf equipment. His people skills on his door-to-door campaign were also questionable. Should you not be de-briefing with him and consulting him on some of the do’s and don’t’s when speaking to the voters? You speak of a man who comes to ‘save this town’... as an undecided voter, I ask you this: Can one person single-handedly save a town? At least the other two candidates are aware of the fact that it takes the guidance of a good leader and council and the participation of the community to make this town a better place to live. I suppose I cannot truly classify myself as ‘undecided’ as I already know who I am NOT voting for. My impression of Mr. Pellow is that he is very arrogant and self-serving and would dictate rather than lead. This is an un-biased impression from a registered voter who was visited by Mr. Pellow. If you were to randomly poll residents of this town, I believe that a very large amount feel the way I do but I speak only for myself here. If you are truly a good campaign manager I would expect to see some attempts to make a better impression before Monday.
ReplyDeleteHave any of you noticed that you cant's access Billy Pellow's web page through Hugh's website anymore? You can only access it by going to Billy's direct site. Perhaps Hugh jumped ship.
ReplyDeleteThis is the real Teddy Burns. I have never commented on this blog and never will except for this insertion.
ReplyDeleteThank You
