Sign, sign, everywhere a sign...

I have noticed a bothersome trend over the years.  This problem is not unique to Chapleau, but it seems more pronounced here.  I am referring to the fact that long abandoned businesses with their signs still in place.  Several examples are present in the old Starlite building dowtown.  People travelling to Chapleau might try to buy paint or insurance somewhere at that location, as the signs still indicate.  Or they may even try to order a meal at the Starlite restaurant.  At least the owners of the new fitness centre in the building had the common sense to erect an attractive sign.  I realize that the township is not responsible for this eyesore.  It is the owner of the aforementioned building that should get rid of these signs.  Maybe the town can help out as some form of community revitalization project?  I can't think of any other building in town that has this kind of problem.  I guess you could say, the building has an identity crisis.
