Virtually speaking

I find it interesting that Mr. Hugh Kuttner thinks we should abandon our physical museum and have a virtual one in its place.  While this would simplify things a bit in terms of finances, there is a problem with this kind of thinking.  One of the reasons to have a vibrant and interesting museum in a town is to attract tourists.  How can a web-based virtual museum attract the same kind of attention?  Unless Hugh is thinking about virtual tourists.  Do the merchants in Chapleau accept virtual money?

  1. Dear Anonymous,

I'd write to you personally, but I don't know who YOU are. I wish to reiterate my above statements. I have no objections to a virtual museum component to complement our existing museum. I think it's a great idea. I have nothing personal against Mr. Hugh Kuttner. Obviously, you hold him in very high esteem, based on my interpretation of your comment. I do however, object to completely abandoning our physical museum building. Thankfully, what any of us think doesn't matter as there is a dedicated group of volunteers toiling away as we speak to save our physical museum, the one that tourists (that bring money with them) can actually step into and look at while they are visiting our town. Thanks for your comments, they are always appreciated. Next time, try not to be so personal, ok?

  2. Mr. X .... no deference /insult/ at all to the local supporters of the physical museum..
I was just trying to say how much Mr. Kuttners's ideaology is probably more web-based, considering his history with the "birth" of the net...( yes..at least 20 years ago !!!!)
..if he himself could chime in on this...?????

  3. re: Clare Charron's letter on back page of Sept.15th's Chapleau Express: is she referring only to the Bertrand Entity?..ie:,not living in Town and therefore avoiding paying taxes? Of the 18 or so other Municipal employees, those 18 ALL live within our borders, if I'm not mistaken.

    1. Not sure, but it will be a relief to get rid of some dead weight on Council in about 2 years from now. Too bad we have to wait so long. I do very much appreciate Mrs. Charron's inquiring about the fishing money. Where did it go (or where is it) and why was somebody not more on the ball than this?
