There is yet another letter calling for action to deal with the ongoing conflict of interest scandal. This one has been submitted by Mrs. Claire Charron. In it, she demands the dismissal of Rose Bertrand and a pay cut for Lisi Crichton-Bernier. This is why we need a person appointed to such a position to rule on such matters and make such decisions. If we let everyone with an opinion decide the fate of these persons, we're liable to have someone burned at the stake. While the acts themselves seem grievous on the surface, I am certain there is much more to the story (or stories) than what most of us have read in the paper. Cool heads prevail. I like to hope that something will be done sooner rather than later to deal with this ongoing fiasco. That is the faith we must give our elected representatives. But then again, Bev Oda still has her job, and she has done far worse than Rose Bertrand.
On another note, a link to my blog has appeared in the Chapleau Express, as has a link to Kimmo's site. I'm quite flattered by all the attention. Now I'll have to sharpen my pencil (virtual pencil that is) and make sure I keep on top of everything.
Thanks to everyone for reading!
Mr. X
Maybe a good time to have another poll!
ReplyDeleteI really think that Municipal Council thinks that this will just all go away if they close their eyes and ignore it. I mean let's look their actions thus far. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! Talk about bad P.R. advise, they must be getting it for free. Well, are we going to let them get away with this or are we going to push forward. I can just imagine what else are they hiding from us. So much for TRANSPARENCY and for KEEPING US ALL IN THE LOOP. Remember all of their campagn talk, but now it seems they can't WALK THE WALK. Perhaps a phone call to Le Loup, JJAM FM, The Timmins Daily Press, Wawa News, heck they love this kind of news. Perhaps a little demonstration should be planned in front of the Civic Centre. Humm! Looking forward to next weekend's paper with anticipation.
ReplyDeleteLisi was off to a good start with her recent article in the paper. In this way, she is trying to keep the electorate informed as to what municipal council has been doing. Having the council minutes in the paper makes the whole process even more visible. But is it all too little, too late? I mean, sure we know that they will no longer get rid of stray dogs by shooting them, but they still have not addressed what people REALLY want (and deserve) to know about. What in the world are they going to do about the present fiasco? There have been letters in the paper (and more to come, I hear) and quite a bit of interest on blogs such as this one. Do we need to go further and get this on CBC radio perhaps? Or a demonstration as the previous poster suggested? What's it going to take to get answers from our elected officials. We are tired of being ignored and taken for granted. Too bad there's no recall legislation in Chapleau...
